StaffHousing and Residential Education Staff | Living and Learning Communities | Graduate Assistant Opportunities | Honors Program We couldn't offer this array of living options without a network of professional and student staff members working in concert to create educational, social, and leadership opportunities. Opportunities that include the Residence Hall Council of each building. These student-directed groups develop and implement all types of programs, recommend building improvements, and provide a forum to discuss issues and concerns. Representatives from each hall council work together and comprise the Residence Hall Association (RHA). The RHA plans programs for the entire residence community and addresses issues of student interest. Annual functions include a care package program and Welcome Week programs at the beginning of the school year. Officers have the opportunity to travel to regional and national conferences each year to network and learn from other student leaders across the county. Students find that one of the best ways to meet people and get involved in the DU community is through membership in a residence hall organization or a student staff position. Each residence hall has a student staff member, a resident assistant (RA), assigned to the floor. In the undergraduate apartments, a student staff member, a resident assistant (RA), is assigned to each building. In the graduate apartments, a student staff member, a community advisor (CA), is assigned to each building. Resident Technology Assistants (RTAs) are student staff members assigned to the campus buildings to provide technological support and programming in the residence halls and apartments. Desk managers (DMs) are student staff members assigned to the front desks of Centennial Halls, Johnson McFarlane, Centennial Towers, and Nelson Hall. They supervise workers and front desk operations, helping create a fun, efficient, informative service center. These student staff members are supported by a team of professional staff members. One full-time Assistant Director of Housing and Residential Education (AD) serves the North Complex including Centennial Halls, and the Centennial Towers Suites while another oversees the South complex including Johnson-McFarlane Hall, Nelson Hall, and Aspen, and Hilltop apartments. Each is assisted by two or three Graduate Resident Directors who are Master's Degree Candidates in Higher Education-Student Development. Supporting the other residence buildings on campus are Resident Directors. One Resident Director serves Johnson-McFarlane Hall, another serves Centennial Halls, and an Apartments Coordinator serves Cavalier Apartments, La Chateau Apartments, University Apartments, House of York Apartments, and the Yorkshire Apartments. These individuals pool their energy and resources to develop programs to stimulate and expand the mind, facilitate and encourage personal growth, and provide opportunities for safe and pleasant interaction among residents. |
