When can I move into my room?
This fall we will feature a staggered check-in schedule when we open. First-year students with assignments to odd-numbered rooms may check-in starting at 9 am on Monday, September 3, 2007. Students with assignments to even-numbered rooms may check-in starting at 11:30 am on Monday, September 3, 2007. If you arrive prior to your designated check-in time you will be asked to wait, so please make arrangements accordingly. We are unable to make any accommodations for early arrivals, so please make appropriate travel arrangements to arrive on or after the date we open. Your assignment will be held until midnight on Sunday, September 9, 2007. Depending on our need for space, students who check-in after this date may be reassigned.

What should I know about checking-in to my residence hall?
Many people don't appreciate the importance of thoroughly completing check-in paperwork. You will be asked to examine a room inventory form and note anything abnormal about your room on it. It is very important that this be completed thoroughly. When you check out at the end of the year this sheet will be instrumental in billing for damages. This sheet is provided for your protection from improper charges, please fill it out carefully and thoroughly.

What's the difference between Centennial Halls and J-Mac?
The buildings are more similar than many people give them credit for. The average room in Halls is slightly larger, while rooms in J-Mac have bigger windows. J-Mac is closer to most science and music classes while Halls is closer to Arts and Humanities classes in Sturm Hall and the Ritchie Sports and Wellness Center. Both buildings have cafeterias and convenience stores, both buildings have classrooms and computer labs. Halls houses about 600 students, while J-Mac houses about 400. In Halls, rooms are arranged in a circle around a central bathroom, while in J-Mac rooms are in two parallel lines with the bathroom at one end.

What are the rooms like and what size are the beds?
Rooms in J-Mac and in Halls come with two beds that are bunkable, two dressers, two desks, two closets, two sets of shelves, local phone service, basic cable access and high speed internet access. Beds are extra-long twins, measuring 78" by 38". Rooms in Halls measure 11'8" by 16'6" while rooms in J-Mac measure 11'6" by 13'6".

I'm unhappy with my room assignment, am I able to request a change?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate room change requests during the summer. However we have a room change date, which will be on Wednesday, September 26th, 2007 where students may change their room assignment.

I need to ship some of my personal belongings to school. How can I do this?
You may ship your personal belongings to your mailing address on campus. However, we are unable to accept packages that arrive prior to Monday, September 3rd, 2007. Please remember that the University accepts no liability for packages delivered to the residence halls.

Do I need purchase or bring a microwave or refrigerator?
Please do not bring a microwave or refrigerator. Every room in Centennial Halls and Johnson-McFarlane has a Microfridge, which combines a refrigerator, freezer, and microwave into a single unit.
